The
Somerville Chamber of Commerce’s Dining & Nightlife Group has
announced that part of the proceeds from the annual Taste of Somerville
will benefit RESPOND, Inc., the nation’s second oldest domestic violence
agency. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 21st
at the Holiday Inn in Somerville. It features more than 30 area
restaurants that provide samples of appetizers, entrees, pastries,
desserts, wine and beer.
“As a nonprofit
that’s been a part of Somerville since 1974, we love taking part in an
event that allows people to experience the incredible flavors and
cultures offered by this city’s dining scene while also supporting our
mission to end domestic violence,” says RESPOND, Inc. Executive Director
Jessica Brayden. “The Taste of Somerville is the perfect way to support
both the important work that RESPOND does and the local restaurants
that make this city a dining destination.”
“We are pleased
to produce this event to benefit RESPOND, Inc. this year,” says Dave
Flanagan co-owner of Foundry on Elm and Saloon, and Chair of the
Somerville Chamber Dining & Nightlife Group. “The Taste of
Somerville is a true community event. The restaurants serve amazing
food, beers, and wines, and every ticket purchased benefits an important
nonprofit that has served Somerville and its surrounding area for 39
years.”
