“We’ve had a fantastic turnout of Main Streets businesses that
decorated their windows in the spirit of the season this year,” Mayor
Menino said. “Now I’m asking Bostonians to take stock of the very best
and to vote on our website for their favorite display. Over the next
week, voters will determine the three most festive holiday windows in
the Boston’s Main Street districts.”
The Deck the Windows holiday
storefront decorating competition tests businesses’ creativity during
the holiday season. More than 400 windows were decorated by Wednesday,
November 28. Last week, local judges reviewed windows in each of the Boston Main Streets
districts and submitted a winner from each of the 20 Main Street
districts. The public voting stage of the contest will conclude one week
from today on December 18, at which time online voting will determine
the winner. The top three businesses will be announced on Thursday,
December 20 by Mayor Menino.
