
The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) presents DJs on the Harbor, for three Fridays in August. In conjunction with The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl, the ICA brings some of the best DJs around to the ICA’s Putnam Investments Plaza on Boston Harbor for a night of art, music and dancing. (Program moves inside in case of rain.) Music and dancing start at 7:30 and go until 11 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to stroll through the ICA’s hit exhibition The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl. The Water CafĂ© will be open for drinks and light food. Tickets, which include museum admission, are $15, or $10 for members and students.
August 12
Mexican Institute of Sound
Presented with Clandestino
Mexico City–based Mexican Institute of Sound fuses Latin American folk rhythms with the most up-to-the-minute hip-hop and electronica. DJ and producer Camilo Lara will turn the ICA into "a sweaty indie dance party” with the energy of []“the bustling streets of Latin America's most popular cities."
Opening DJ set by Pajaritos
Pajaritos is comprised of Boston-based DJs Riobamba and Malagon. Pajaritos pays homage to emerging genres that celebrate staples of Latin American music through electronic reworks, including, but not limited to, tropical bass, moombahton and digital cumbia.
August 26
JD Samson (Men, Le Tigre)
A member of the feminist punk band Le Tigre, JD Samson also performs with MEN, a band that focuses on the radical potential of dance music. As a DJ, JD Samson would like to create “space for rad people to dance and smile and hold each other.” Opening DJ set by FOXY DJs Nate Bluhm and James Cerne.
