Now that I'm training for the marathon and also engaged in a weightloss bet with my roommate, I've been trying to eat healthier.  In particular, I've been adding in more fruit and cutting out fried stuff ... delicious, delicious fried stuff.  Coming up on Tuesday is the BMPA's Strawberry Harvest Festival - 6/21.

Celebrate the return of Boston’s local strawberries with your friends, family and co-workers at Boston Public Market association’s (BMPA) Strawberry Harvest Festival. The event will include opportunities to win prizes, hear tricks of the gardening trade, taste seasonal desserts, learn to create local strawberry dishes, and meet one of Boston’s own widely-recognized cookbook authors. All of the afternoon’s proceeds will support the Boston Public Market Association’s seasonal markets at Dewey Square and Government Center.

Green City Growers will lead a strawberry plant demonstration and giveaway Raffle/giveaway seasonal market basket

Blue Ginger’s Michele Fadden will be offering a strawberry dessert for a suggested donation of $2 – all proceeds will go towards supporting BPMA’s seasonal market operations.

Appearance and book signing – Clara Silverstein, author of “A White House Garden Cookbook: Healthy Ideas from the First Family to Your Family”

Demonstration by Clover Food Truck’s chef Rolando Robledo who will show people how to create a salad with strawberries and a strawberry agua fresco
