Fall Harvest Weekend at Patriot Place - 10/2 & 10/3

9/30/2010 09:35:00 PM 0 Responses
For something a little more family friendly this weekend, I recommend you (and the kids) swing by Patriot Place for their Fall Harvest Weekend.

With hayrides, pumpkin carving, a farmers’ market and tours of the Ocean Spray Bog at Patriot Place, Fall Harvest Weekend offers a full schedule of free, seasonal activities at New England’s premier entertainment destination.

In addition to outdoor activities, Patriot Place’s restaurants will offer a taste of Patriot Place, with free samples of menu items featuring New England’s favorite fall fruit, the cranberry. Ocean Spray will also host their annual Tailgating Recipe Contest, with the title “Official Tailgate Recipe of the New England Patriots” on the line. Families won’t want to miss any of it.

Awww, hayrides.  How cute.  I've never actually been on a hayride.  I grew up in Texas; we rode longhorn steer instead.  Just kidding.

No More Texting While Driving - Starts Today!

9/30/2010 12:05:00 AM 1 Response
Those of you that text while driving, beware.  Starting today, it's illegal.

Massachusetts drivers who text behind the wheel are facing a new state law with hefty fines as the state joins the nationwide move to limit distracted driving.

The new law taking effect Thursday also prohibits scanning the Internet on a phone or mobile device while driving and bans anyone under 18 from talking on a cell phone while driving. Violators will face fines ranging from $100 for a first offense and up to $500 for repeat offenses.

Texting while driving is a pretty big distraction.  I say it's probably a good idea.  Especially since nowadays there's a lot of phones that don't even have buttons.  Texting is hard enough with my fat fingers.  I don't need to be doing it in a moving vehicle.

Oktoberfest Die Beehive - 10/5

9/29/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
All my friends are off in Munich at the authentic Oktoberfest.  Sadly, I'm stuck stateside.  But at least there are options in town ... like the Oktoberfest event at the Beehive next week.

On Tuesday, October 5th, 2010, The Beehive presents “Oktoberfest Die Beehive,” in association with the Goethe-Institut of Boston, the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The event will feature German Food and Beer specials, as well as entertainment by the Bavarian Hofbrau Band. Pass a mug of ice cold Harpoon Beer as you enjoy the evening with Executive Chef Rebecca Newell’s traditional Bavarian fare with specials such as: German Sausages ($20.00) and House Roast Pork Knuckle ($24.00) both served with Sauerkraut and potatoes. Not in the mood for dinner? Join the Beehive at 8:00PM when the band starts and enjoy your ice cold beer with The Beehive's oven fresh pretzels. So dust off your Dirndl and lederhosen and come celebrate!

Filmshift Film Festival Starts 10/3

9/27/2010 11:21:00 PM 0 Responses
I had a couple of friends from highschool who were film majors in college.  I was told that I'm more of the 'movie' type, not the 'film' type.  And for the most part, I agree.  I'm more a fan of mainstream blockbusters that just entertain me for a couple of hours.  My life is thought provoking enough as it is.

Coming this October 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th to the Coolidge Corner Theater, Somerville Theater, and Performing Arts Connection in Sudbury, is the Filmshift Festival. Filmshift is an independent film festival designed not only to entertain, but to spark dialogue about the essential role small businesses and local entrepreneurs play in producing movies and strengthening our nation’s spirit and economy.

Named after “The 10% Shift,” a campaign launched by a group of New England entrepreneurs to encourage consumers to shift 10 percent of their everyday spending to local businesses, Filmshift will showcase more than 20 films including features and shorts from categories such as environmental/local issues, drama, comedy, horror, animated, and documentary.

I'm exaggerating of course, I have been known to watch the occasional film.  Just recently I rewatched one of my favorite films ... "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle."  =)

OhLand @ Paradise - 9/26

9/24/2010 02:17:00 AM 0 Responses
I try my best to keep up with the music scene as a whole but there's so much out there, so I'm always appreciative when I get emails about artists that I've never heard before.  And Bloggery rep dwillens also does a pretty good job of keeping me up to date when he sends me stuff.  That being said, I got an email about artist OhLand who's going to be performing this weekend at Paradise and her stuff is pretty good.

On Sunday September 26th, Oh Land will be playing with Mates of State at Paradise.

Oh Land is a peculiar new cinematic electropop Dane who recently moved to Brooklyn, NY. With an opera singer for a mother, a theater organist for a father, and Bjork's Homogenic on constant rotation, Oh Land was was enraptured by the combination of experimental and classical arts. She spent her younger days pirouetting as a ballet dancer at the Danish Royal Ballet Academy when an injury forced her to reinvent herself and discover her true talent and passion as a musician.

Her soundscapes are lavish, crunchy, symphonic, brute and captivated with rhythms that fly apart (RIYL Robyn, Lykke Li, Bjork, La Roux). She translates the sounds live via her "contraption" - a homemade one-woman-band music box topped with balloon video projections (seeing is believing).

Interesting stuff.  I listened to some of her music that's available online and it sounds very loungey.  I like it.

Wellesley is Expensive to Live In

9/24/2010 01:17:00 AM 1 Response
I think we all knew this already, but in case someone wasn't aware.  It's really expensive to live in Wellesley.  According to Coldwell Banker, it's the 7th most expensive place to live in the country.

The report from Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC's Home Listing Report looked at listing prices between February and August and found that the average price of a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom, single-family home in Wellesley is just under $1.1 million.

Nationally, average home prices range from a low of $68,000 in Detroit to a high of $1.83 million in Newport Beach, California.

I did a quick google search but wasn't able to find the report itself (too lazy to spend a lot of time on it).  I'm a little curious to see which cities were 2 through 6.  I'm also curious to see how many of the houses that were listed for those prices actually sold.

Free Boston Pops Concert - 9/26

9/22/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
Having been in the orchestra when I was younger (I played the cello), I'm partial to the BSO over the Pops, but I love them both.  And I'm definitely not about to turn down a FREE concert.

As part of their 125th Anniversary Celebration, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops will give a free concert on Boston Common at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 26. The concert is the culmination of the Pops in the Parks series, which took place in Boston throughout the summer.

The concert will feature The Dream Lives On: A Portrait of the Kennedy Brothers, the centerpiece of the Pops' 125th anniversary season. The program will also include a tribute to Leroy Anderson, music from John Williams's Star Wars and Harry Potter scores, a '70's Sing-along, and Boston favorites "Sweet Caroline" and "I'm Shipping Up to Boston." Vocalist Renese King will sing "We the People" and a new arrangement of "God Bless America" by Brad Hatfield.

That is quite the line up:  John Williams' music, a little bit of Neil Diamond, and some Dropkick Murphy's.

Red Stag Party at Dillon's - 9/23

Before I start.  I'd just like to say that I watched The Town tonight and it was excellent.  Of all the movies that have filmed here over the last few years, The Town does the best job of actually showcasing Boston.

Stuff is hosting a party this Thursday @ Dillon's and they're serving Red Stag cocktails.  Did a quick google search, apparently it's Jim Bean bourbon infused with black cherry.  Interesting.  Everyone knows I have a weakness for whiskey.

Capital Grille Moving to Hynes Convention Center

9/21/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
I've never actually eaten a the Capital Grille.  Maybe I should swing by sometime before they move so I can do the before & after comparison.  I did that with L'Espalier back in the day before they moved from their brownstone in Back Bay over to the Mandarin Oriental.

The Capital Grille restaurant will move from Newbury Street to a larger space at the nearby John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in 2011

The new location will be at the corner of Dalton and Boylston streets and will “bookend’’ the Hynes with another restaurant, said the authority, which operates the Hynes. The other restaurant is Towne Stove and Spirits, which was opened earlier this year...

Any suggestions on what I should have if I go?  My goto steak place has been Morton's and/or KO Prime ... and when I'm feeling special - Grill 23 - because their dry aged ribeye is ridiculous.

Chipotle Coming to Downtown?

9/21/2010 12:04:00 AM 2 Responses
I've had this bookmarked for a month and have forgotten (or been too busy) to post about it.  I need to find some time to wander over to 101 Summer Street and check it out.  Because last month, UniversalHub noted that Chipotle is looking to setup shop there.

Chipotle goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Aug. 25 for a license to open an outlet at 101 Summer St., within spitting distance of a Qdoba at 62 Summer St.

Does anyone know how the meeting went?  I'm a pretty big fan of the Chipotle barbacoa burrito with guacamole ... droooool.

1st Annual Boston Wine Week - Starts Today!

9/20/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
I just went to my first Oktoberfest event (read: beer) this past weekend.  Seems like a good idea to round things out with some wine this week.  Starting today is the first annual Boston Wine Week.

The first annual Boston Wine Week kicks off a week-long celebration of handcrafted wines by winemakers and growers from around the world, served by the glass or bottle at some of Boston’s top restaurants. Proving that great wine doesn’t have to be a great expense, all wines (some of which retail up to $90/bottle) will be offered at $9/glass and $32/bottle. Participating restaurants will offer a minimum of six wines, available at a substantial discount.

Here's a few of the restaurants that are participating:   Bin 26 enoteca, Lala Rokh, 75 Chestnut, Clink at The Liberty Hotel, The Hungry i, Beacon Hill Bistro, Woodward at The Ames Hotel, BiNA osteria, Jer-Ne, Locke-Ober, The Beehive, Petit Robert Bistro South End, Brasserie JO

The Bloggery Meets CSN Stores

9/17/2010 12:28:00 AM 0 Responses
I've been exchanging emails over the last couple of weeks with someone over at CSN Stores, asking me to check out their websites and report back to you guys about the experience.  I've gladly accepted, because they're a Boston-based company and I figure if Bostonians are going to shop online, we may as well keep it in the family.

I first heard about CSN about a year ago when they teamed up with to expand their online assortment.  CSN is an online retailer comprised of over 200 stores, selling everything from kitchen tables to karaoke machines.  Here's some more info I pulled off their website.

Based in Boston, CSN Stores LLC began in 2002 and has grown rapidly into a Top 3 online U.S. retailer of home and office goods with 400+ employees. At this moment, CSN Stores, a $200 million company, is comprised of more than 200 different shopping sites under the overall umbrella. Most sites are named for their primary product offerings or the styles they provide. These include:,,,, and

I've been perusing their sites for the last couple of days now.  I'm going to order something and then write about the online shopping experience.  I've narrowed my choices down to either a nice blender (I drink a lot of smoothies these days) or a Shun knife.

Click (here) to visit CSN Stores.

PS.  If you've got a better suggestion as to what you think I should buy, email me.

PPS.  Stay tuned for a CSN gift certificate giveaway in the next week or two.

Jersey Shore’s Pauly D @ Royale - 9/18

9/14/2010 12:06:00 AM 0 Responses
My facebook is littered with friends who post status updates about how awesome Jersey Shore is.  I'm tempted to unfriend them so that I don't have to read about it anymore.  But from what I've been reading, the ratings/viewership for Jersey Shore has done wonders for MTV.  So from a business perspective, I can't help but be a little impressed.

To the Jersey Shore fans out there, Pauly D is coming to Boston this weekend @ Royale.

On Saturday, September 18th, Jersey Shore resident Italian bad boy DJ Pauly D returns to his post at the turntables of Royale nightclub in Boston. Invading TV’s across the country for a salacious second season of MTV’s Jersey Shore, Pauly D continues to be not only one of the most addictive reality TV stars but also one of the most sought after top-40 DJ’s in the country. Fresh from the booths in South Beach, Seaside Heights, and Las Vegas, Royale once again brings Pauly D to the dance floor for a night that can’t be missed… Or TIVO’ed.

Casting Call: Southie Businesses for New TV Show

9/14/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
Ok, before I get to the details of the casting call, I wanted to share with you the funniest spam email I've gotten in a while.  Usually it's the Nigerian guy wanting to send me $10MM or discounted viagra pills but check out the latest one:

"Hi, as we can see, you're a very great fan of Justin Bieber, so we decided to share with you this interview after the VMA shows, it's in exclusive, so anybody has seen it yet. You're lucky!"

And then there was a link to download something that would undoubtedly blow up my computer.  I really hope there's nothing on my blog that leads people to think I'm a 'very great fan of Justin Bieber.'  But, I digress.

This post is for those of you who may own or work in a Southie business that represents the "southie attitude."  Check out the flyer below for details:

The Living Newspaper @ Oberon - 9/13

9/13/2010 12:04:00 AM 0 Responses
This sounds intriguing.  I received an email from the producer of a show that's coming to Boston next Monday called "The Living Newspaper."  I don't think I completely understand what it is, but that's probably a good excuse to go check it out for myself.  Here are the details:

The Living Newspaper: Google Rising
Presented by DRD Theatricals at The Oberon at A.R.T.
September 13, 2010

The new edition of a unique, collaborative theater event

Two weeks. Three writers. Eight actors. A world of collaborators…And today’s most pressing topics make The Living Newspaper episodes the most original, timely, and fiercely relevant theatrical events of the season.

The topic for this edition: How Google affects how we live and where we place the boundaries between privacy, commerce, and the desire for information.

Over the course of a 14-day cycle now in progress, a team of writers and actors will be collaborating with participants from around the world via the The Living Newspaper's Facebook page to develop an evening of live theater that looks at the topic from all sides and in great detail. Everyone is invited to contribute to this conversation.

Each edition of The Living Newspaper is unique, and may include drama, music, improv, performance art, and multimedia, for compelling theatre that you will think about – and talk about – far longer than yesterday’s news.

Personally, Google makes my life a whole lot awesomer  I use their: gmail, calendar, rss reader, etc on a daily basis.  Even this blog and all the analytics, advertising (which no one ever clicks on ... grrrr) and what not is hosted by Google as well.

Petit Robert Central Opens Today! - 9/13

9/13/2010 12:04:00 AM 0 Responses
Yay for more restaurants in Downtown Crossing!  I'm going to have to give it a shot.  My go to places for casual food in the area are usually Zen (in beacon hill) or chinatown (I love rice plates).  But, I'm definitely going to have to give Petit Robert Central - which opens today - a try.

Chef Jacky Robert opens Petit Robert Central in Downtown Crossing Monday, Sept. 13. Lunch will be served.

The much-anticipated opening of Petit Robert Central will herald new opportunities for the downtown area and all of Boston. Petit Robert Central will offer lunch, dinner, a full bar menu, and multiple opportunities for private events in this expansive and sleek new space.

The very reasonably-priced menus top out at $13 for lunch and $20 for dinner. The large open bar at Petit Robert Central is a natural gathering place for after-work drinks, a light pre-show dinner for nearby   theaters and movie theaters, or a gathering spot for a meeting. And the comfortable, airy design by HDTV’s Taniya Nayak guarantees a relaxed time, whether for a meal, a meeting, drinks, or a special event.

18th Annual Caribbean and Mardi Gras Festival - 9/12

9/10/2010 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
I just finished watching the first season of Treme.  If you haven't seen it before, it's an HBO series about New Orleans after Katrina.  The music was great, but I found the plot advancement to be a little slow.  Coming up this weekend is a little taste of Mardi Gras in Cambridge - the 18th Annual Carribbean and Mardi Gras Festival.

Cambridge Carnival International, a colorful and festive celebration that is rooted in African traditions is preparing for the 18th annual Caribbean and Mardi Gras style festival and parade. This year's date is September 12, 2010, 12 noon – 7pm in Kendall Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the event is held annually the weekend after Labor Day. This year’s rain date is Sunday, September 26, 2010.

The highlight of the festival is a grand costume parade accompanied by rich rhythmic musicality promoting all types of cultures. Revelers masquerade through the streets of Cambridge in dazzling handmade costumes dancing to the international beat and flavor of Carnival—Cambridge style. The costume parade route spans 1.3 miles starts at 12:30pm and begins near the Charles River at River Street and Blackstone Street, passes throughCentral Square along Massachusetts Avenue, continues up Main Street and ends in Kendall Square near MIT,Cambridge.

I checked the weather; as of now it doesn't look like it's supposed to rain on Sunday. But with all these tropical storms & hurricanes developing on what seems to be a daily basis, who knows what to expect.

Doh, I missed this one by a day.  But thanks to Bloggery reader Jackie for letting me know about it.  The 2nd Annual Boston Improv Festival just started yesterday, but there are several more days of comedy to be had.

Welcome to the second annual Boston Improv Festival, hosted by ImprovBoston!

This year the festival runs from September 8 – 12, 2010.

The Inaugural Boston Improv Festival covered 3 stages and featured over 65 improv, sketch, and stand-up acts – with over 2800 show attendees. We’re really excited to continue on last year’s success. This year will featur acts from all over the world – including Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Montreal, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Toronto, and more!

I could go for some good comedy.  I just watched a rerun of the Roast of David Hasselhoff on Comedy Central last night and I'd like to erase it from my memory.

1st Annual Armenian Festival - This Weekend

9/09/2010 12:30:00 AM 0 Responses
I told you there's lots going on this upcoming weekend.

Celebrate and experience Armenian culture and cuisine with the first annual Kermesse: Armenian Street Fair & Festival. The weekend long event, presented by the Armenian Cultural and Educational Center (ACEC) in Watertown, MA, will take place on Saturday, September 11th from 10:00am to 11:00pm and Sunday, September 12th 2010 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm.

The event will showcase all aspects of Armenian culture such as an art exhibit from local artists, a historical exhibit by the Armenian Library & Museum of America(ALMA) and gourmet tastings from local vendors including Eastern Lamejun, Massis Bakery and Fastachi.

The event will be taking place at the Armenian Cultural and Education Center, 47 Nichols Avenue, Watertown, MA 02472) (adjacent Nichols Avenue)

I'm a little bummed that the 'Food' section on the website isn't clickable, I wanted to check out what kind of tasty stuff they plan on having.  That's ok, I just googled 'armenian food' instead to get the general idea.  Yum.

Review: The Real Inspector Hound

9/08/2010 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
As I mentioned earlier, DanDan headed over to to check out The Real Inspector Hound this past weekend (here) and he said quite enjoyed it.  Here's what he had to say:

Since I live around the corner from Tremont, I've walked by posters for the shows at the Boston Center for the Arts many times. But as a Sherlock Holmes fan, when I saw signs for The Real Inspector Hound, performing from September 2nd through the 25th, I definitely wanted to stop by. This satirical murder mystery tears down the walls between the audience and the actors (which this production further accomplishes by giving some of the suspects in the mystery facebook accounts (here), (here), and (here) while poking fun at the genre as a whole.

By the end, the audience seemingly stumbles across a potential murder in progress and is left unraveling the layers of a true mystery as the conventional boundaries of the theater are broken. At times, the play is both goofy and self deprecating, as one would expect from a Stoppard play, and the whole experience makes for an enjoyable 90 minutes. Performances are: Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm; Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm. Definitely worth checking out!

Sounds kind of fun.  I'm def going to try to make it over when I get a chance.

5th Annual Island Creek Oyster Festival - 9/11

9/07/2010 12:47:00 AM 0 Responses
I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend.  I'm looking forward to what I hope will be a painless four-day work week.  There's lots happening this upcoming weekend and on the top of that priority list is the Island Creek Oyster Festival.

The Island Creek Oyster Festival is an afternoon-long, sustainable event set to take place on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 from 3 to 11 p.m. on Duxbury Beach. Now in its fifth year, the Festival highlights the best in local oysters, food, music, and beer. As always, the proceeds of the entire event go to the Island Creek Oysters Foundation.

As many as 3,000 attendees will flood Duxbury Beach to hang out under our tents where they'll be able to enjoy live music from two bands and a mid-afternoon DJ. They'll also find 20 of Boston’s most celebrated chefs.

My buddy Eugene, who's been MIA for the last several months, has done the 100 oysters for $100 from Island Creek (here) a couple of times - and said it's awesome.  So if you can't make it to Duxbury, there's always that.

Dating Site for Ladies to Find Harvard Guys

9/07/2010 12:22:00 AM 1 Response
Seems like a pretty small niche that the founders of have created.  Although, I guess if you include all past graduates of both their undergrad and grad programs, you might have a decent sized pool.  The site is for women who want to date specifically Harvard guys.

Women: Find poised Harvard University educated men determined to make a difference in the world as foremost doctors, lawyers, businessmen, academics and professionals

Harvard Men: Meet an outstanding variety of discerning women who place a premium on intelligence, poise and ambition

Granted a simple website like this probably doesn't have much overhead, but I wonder if they've got a viable business plan or if this is just a hobby/way for the founders to meet chicks.

Life is Good Festival - Next Week

9/03/2010 12:04:00 AM 0 Responses
I blogged previously when the Life is Good Festival tickets went on sale, but now we're coming up around the 1 week away mark so I figured I'd remind anyone who missed my original post.  The organizers have a new video up about it so check it out:

I suppose it's not as entertaining as the Double Rainbow guy, but it still gets the point across.  It's going to be a great festival, and it's for a good cause.

Cruzan 9 Tastings Throughout Boston - 9/9

9/03/2010 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
I hope that everyone has a good Labor Day weekend, despite the whole lingering hurricane-effects thing.  I myself don't have too much planned.  Probably sip some scotch, look for more jobs.  Looking to switch careers.  Note to self, go buy some scotch tomorrow.

After you return from the long weekend though, I've got lots of stuff in my inbox for next week.  The first of which is a Cruzan 9 tasting that'll be going on at a bunch of different locations in Boston on 9/9.

Earlier this summer, Cruzan announced its newest spirit, a spiced rum called Cruzan 9. The spirit just hit shelves this month, and in keeping with the “9” theme, Cruzan is having a tasting event on September 9 (or 9/9!!) to formally introduce this rum to Boston. There will be tastings at 9 bars throughout the city, and Cruzan brand reps will be stationed in at least one venue to chat about 9 and about Cruzan in general.  The following bars are slated to play host to the 9/9 festivities:

lir - 903 boylston st
living room - 101 atlantic ave
atlantic beer garden - 146 seaport blvd
stadium - 232 old colony ave, South Boston
mcfaddens - 148 state st
tavern in the square - 720 massachusetts ave, cambridge
central kitchen - 567 massachusetts ave, cambridge
kings - 50 dalton st
lucky strike - 145 ipswich st

Boston is America's Fourth Brainiest City

9/02/2010 12:05:00 AM 1 Response
I dont' know if I agree with that statement.  I'd put us somewhere somewhere closer to #1, but that's just my opinion.  The folks over at the Daily Beast probably (hopefully) reached their conclusion in a more scientific manner.

Top 5:
1) Boulder, CO
2) Durham, NC
3) Washington DC Metro Area
4) Boston-Cambridge, MA
5) Trenton-Ewing, NJ

Though luring new factories and building new stadiums lend themselves to outsize media attention and ostentatious ribbon-cutting ceremonies, the less glamorous work of building up local knowledge assets and leveraging existing university campuses yields far greater and lasting economic gains. Unlike incentive packages and new stadiums, which, despite their price tags of hundreds of millions of dollars, too often turn out to provide benefits that are scant or fleeting, knowledge assets like research universities can’t move; they are rooted in the local economy.

Whew, at least we didn't lose to New Jersey ... I hate that place.

9th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention - Starts 9/3

9/02/2010 12:04:00 AM 0 Responses
Part of me kind of wants a tattoo - on my back right between the shoulder blades - then the rest of me realizes that I'm way too out of shape for anyone to ever see me in public with my shirt off.  Therefore, I'm still tattoo-less.  That won't stop me from checking out other folks' tattoos, though, this weekend at the 9th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention.

The 9th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention is coming up over labor day weekend in September 2010! As has been the tradition for the past 8 years, artists, collectors, shops, vendors, performers, and people from all walks of life will flock to Boston for the weekend of September 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

And if any of you are thinking of getting chinese characters tattooed on yourselves.  Take me with you so I can make sure that the translations are correct.  That way I can ensure that the tattoo that you think says 'strength & honor' doesn't actually say 'kung pao chicken.'

Presale: Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion

9/01/2010 12:04:00 AM 0 Responses
I received a lot of positive feedback about Ovo (the latest traveling Cirque du Soleil show) so I figured some of you might be interested in checking out one of their older ones.  I saw Dralion back in 2004 during their first tour around the country.  I remember it vividly because it was my first live Cirque show.

If you're interested, the presale is going on all week this week.

Suspended in time between the past and the future, Dralion is a celebration of life and the four elements that maintain the natural order: air, water, fire and earth. Innovation soars to new heights as it defies the laws of nature. Dralion is a dynamic performance that transcends the boundaries of the imagination and leads us into a dreamscape with a new and sparkling perspective.

Cirque Du Soleil: Dralion
January 5 - 9, 2011
Pre-sale Ends: Monday, September 6 @ 10pm

Shaq Moving to Sudbury?

9/01/2010 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
I've been sitting on this one for a while because the rumors have been flying.  I think a few weeks ago I read that Shaq was looking into a place at the W, then somewhere else downtown.  But lately most of the articles have been pointing to Sudbury.  Here's the latest:

Perennial NBA all-star and the newest member of the Boston Celtics, Shaquille O'Neal is reportedly interested in a Sudbury mansion.

The 7-foot, 325-pound future NBA Hall-of-Famer reportedly has his eyes set on a 10,000-square-foot, $3.2 million, six-bedroom, eight-bath, three-floor compound at 555 Concord Rd. in Sudbury.

That kind of makes sense since the Celtic's training facility is out in Waltham, right?  And he can always buy a smaller condo downtown for whenever he feels like spending the weekends there.
