You know what's strange? I've always wondered about this, but I somehow made it through the public school system (in TX) having not read several books that are considered classics. 1984, Lord of the Flies, and To Kill A Mockingbird come to mind. I still haven't read any of them.
Well, this year marks the 50th anniversary of To Kill A Mockingbird and the folks at Wiredset are giving away two copies of the 50th anniversary edition of the book. There are also going to be events coming to the Boston area to celebrate the anniversary. The first of which is coming up in two weeks.
To Kill a Mockingbird Celebration and Movie Screening
When: Wednesday, July 14, 2010
12:00AM - 11:00PM
Where: Brattle Theater hosted by Harvard Bookstore
40 Brattle Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Panel discussion followed by a screening of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Panelists TBD
To enter the contest, send me an email with subject heading "To Kill A Mockingbird" and in the body of the email I'll need your name and address. The books are going to be mailed directly to the winners.
Contest ends 7/7/10 at 10pm EST.
Looks like it's time to get off my butt, go to the library, and get a copy. To all the children reading this entry, a "library" is a place where you can go to borrow books for free as long as you return them in 3 weeks.
