Popchips Come to Boston

5/20/2010 02:09:00 AM
I don't entertain much anymore.  Mostly because I have no friends.  But about a month ago, I had some friends over after a night of bar hopping and one of them said to me 'dude, what kind of junk food do you have?'  Now you have to understand that I've been 'dieting' for quite some time now, so I don't keep junk food in my house.  My response to him was "I have peanuts and almonds."  I think he was about to leave then and there.  After that night, I always keep two bags of chips in the cupboard in case of emergency.  I never eat them, I just have them for guests.  Enter Popchips - a snack that I could keep in my cupboard for guests and eat myself as well.

Popchips, the next generation potato chip, are now available in six taste-bud popping flavors in stores across Boston! Thanks to the magic of popping, popchips have all the flavor and less than half the fat of fried chips. What’s left out are all the trans fat, cholesterol, fake colors and flavors that give snacking a bad name.

To celebrate popchips’ arrival into Beantown, we’re donating approximately 20,000 bags of our taste-bud popping chips to local organizations including the Greater Boston Food Bank, Paul Pierce Get Fit34, American Cancer society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Friends of Boston's Homeless, Pitching in for Kids, Project Smile, Green Schools Organization, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Additionally, we’ll be popping up in all Liberty Hotel mini bars, Boston Pops, the “Becket Bowl,” Flip Flop Regatta for the Ally Zapp Foundation and many more! Local nutritionist Debra Wein also recommends popchips in her top 10 list of Boston Beach Bag essentials!

The folks over at Popchips were kind enough to send me some samples of the chips to try.  I ate the salt and pepper ones today (they were pretty darn good) and I've got my eye on the bag of bbq ones for tomorrow.

  1. Anonymous Said,

I have been getting these for months from the Wollaston's at Northeastern University. The salt and pepper ones are ridiculously good.
