While it is impossible to quantify the stress an individual feels, there’s a lot of data on stressful environments. To determine the most stressful American colleges, we put our lens to the top 50 universities in the U.S. News and World Report rankings, using methodology informed by Anderson.
The results?
MIT = 3rd
Harvard = 5th
Tufts = 21st
BC = 25th
Brandeis = 31st
Ranks were given based on: cost, competitiveness, acceptance rate, engineering, and crime on campus.
Interesting to see, but ultimately probably not really much of a measure of anything. I've been to Stanford (ranked #1 most stressful). How could you possibly say with a straight face that those students are more stressed out than MIT students?
