
For the past four St. Patrick’s Day Concerts, WGBH’s Celtic Sojourn has introduced a wide range of both familiar and new musicians to delighted audiences eager to celebrate the holiday in true Irish style. This concert follows the format established for the burgeoning Christmas Celtic Sojourn series of concerts which over the past two years alone has played to over 19,000 people in Boston, Providence and Worcester.
A St. Patrick's Day Celtic Sojourn features familiar performances by some of the principal Celtic musicians who invite you to experience the Irish holiday in a way like never before. This year's show features the return of an iconic fiddler from Ireland, Frankie Gavin, with his band De Dannan. The show also features extraordinary guitarist Tony McManus along with an exciting young singer and harpist, Maeve Gilchrist.
I've been watching a lot of late night tv lately - been combating a nasty bout of insomnia - and I keep seeing those commercials for the Celtic Women audio cd's. I've seen them so many times, I kinda want to buy the cd's now. But I digress ...
