I'm going to let you guys in on a secret. Well sort of a secret, only my closest friends and/or family know this about me. I never learned how to ride a bike when I was a kid. Therefore, I'm pretty much out for this event, but a few of my friends are avid bikers. So this ones for you guys, Jon and Dan!Register to ride in the 31st annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) starting on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Open to 5,500 cyclists, the PMC will be held on Aug 7 and 8, 2010. This year’s goal is to raise $31 million for the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Over the past 30 years, the PMC has raised $270 million for the world-renowned cancer center.
Riders can register for one of ten routes, including four one-day and seven two-day treks which range from 47 to 190 miles. A pioneer of the athletic fundraising event industry, the PMC raises and contributes more money to charity than any other “a-thon” in the US. It has a national reputation for being a beautiful and well-supported ride.
Someone remind me a few days before Aug 7 and I'll hop on a stationary bike and try to bike 47+ miles in spirit along with you guys. I will not, however, shave my legs.
