Contest: Green River Ordinance Tix - 10/14

9/30/2009 12:15:00 AM 0 Responses
Green River Ordinance is performing with Kate Voegele on October 14 at the Paradise Rock Club and I have a pair of free tickets for one lucky winner.

Green River Ordinance was born in Fort Worth, Texas- from brothers Geoff and Jamey Ice, Josh Jenkins, Joshua Wilkerson and Denton Hunker. They recorded their first EP in the basement of their church, a CD that sold out its first pressing in just a few months. An upheaval of popular local support led them to open for Bon Jovi in Dallas in 2006.

The guys are from Ft. Worth Texas and had their song recently featured on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance. They're currently offering a free download of their song "Come On" from their new album 'Out of My Hands' which is out now on Virgin.

Like I may have told you guys before, there's three things I like to spend money on: food, travel, and live music. So if you're like me, you'll hop at the chance of saving some $ and trying for the free tickets.

To enter the contest, email me with the "Green River Ordinance" in the subject and your name in the body of the email and I'll enter you in the drawing. Contest will run until Thursday 10/8 at 10pm EST.

Click (here) to download their mp3 "Come On" for free.

PS. Increase your odds of winning by telling your friends who normally don't read this blog to enter the contest. If they win, they'll feel obligated to take you since you were the one that told them about the contest, right?

Gisele Pregnant Pics

9/30/2009 12:10:00 AM 0 Responses
It's old news that Gisele is pregnant with Tom Brady's next kiddo. But I hadn't seen any recent pictures of her ... until now.

The latest tidbit that I read is that they don't know the sex of the child and are waiting for it to be a surprise. But who knows if that's the truth or not. I must have read a hundred conflicting wedding rumor stories back in the day.

James Levine Gets Emergency Surgery

9/30/2009 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
Eeek. It seems like just yesterday that Maestro Levine was bouncing back from some recent health issues (here). I got to see him on his first performance back. He looked good. Now, the poor guy is out again due to some unanticipated back surgery.

BSO Music Director James Levine has had to withdraw from his upcoming conducting appearances tonight, September 29, and Saturday, October 3, at Symphony Hall in Boston, and Thursday, October 1, at Carnegie Hall in New York, due to immediate unanticipated back surgery for a herniated disc.

“All of us at the BSO are disappointed that Maestro Levine will not be able to conduct the Tuesday and Saturday subscription concerts in Boston and Opening Night at Carnegie Hall,” said Mark Volpe, BSO Managing Director. “Our thoughts are with Jim and we wish him a speedy recovery so he can soon return to the BSO podium and the glorious music-making for which he is so universally known.

He'll be missed for sure, but let's all wish him a speedy recovery and I'm sure we'll see him back on the podium soon.

5th Annual AAWIL Conference - 10/3

9/30/2009 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
This one's for all the Asian American women in the Boston area. The 5th Annual Asian American Women in Leadership Conference is coming up this Saturday - 10/3.

People do not become leaders for glamour. Even though the impact of their actions is truly inspiring, most of them contribute to their own communities quietly. Look around, do you see them? Or, do you see one inside of you? Being a young Asian American female does not equate to being powerless or only ivy-league-based. You may be more courageous, confident, and effective as a leader than anyone else. Come listen to how our panelists got started and you will realize your potential.

Blog Layout Feedback

9/29/2009 12:17:00 AM 4 Responses
It was probably a few months back when I updated the layout of the blog and since then I've gotten some positive feedback and some negative feedback. As a result, I'm going to take an informal survey right now and ask for your help.

Do you like the current format? If you don't, what would make it better?

Here's a few of the things I've been told:

1. Don't like the fact that you can't read the whole article on the homepage anymore, and that you have to click individual articles.

2. Can't tell which article is the most recent because it's missing time stamps.

3. It's a little too dark.

Leave a comment on this post and let me have it.

Bear in mind that it takes me an ungodly number of hours to update my layout (since I'm not a programmer). So I'll do my best to update the layout once I get your feedback and also find several spare hours to work on it.

Free Flu Shot Clinics

9/29/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
I'm not sure how these free flu clinics work logistically, but I'm thinking that if you can afford to pay for your flu shots this year - leave these for the folks that are in need. That being said, if you're in need. Here's a website that lists where u can get your free flu shot.

Interested in getting a free flu shot this year?
Below are the dates for public flu clinics scheduled in the city of Boston. All clinics are free and open to the public. Also, if you are under the age of 18, be sure to come with a parent or guardian who can consent.

Coming to a clinic and don’t have a primary care provider?

That’s ok. You don’t need to be a patient of the health center to receive the flu vaccine at these clinics. If you would like help finding a doctor, contact the Mayor’s Health Line at 1-800-847-0710 to get connected to care.

Free clinics started this past Sunday and run through this week - ending 10/3.

Wyclef Jean Coming to Boston

9/29/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
Wyclef Jean is coming to Boston. To be specific, he's coming to the Berklee School of Music to get a bachelor's degree in Music. Does that mean he's going to be around for four years? That'd be pretty awesome.

Grammy winner Wyclef Jean is going to college to further his education. "I am enrolling in Berklee College in Boston to get my bachelor's degree in music! That's how important education is to me.

That should be pretty fun for the students of Berklee to see him in their classes. Didn't the school year already start though? Maybe he's going next year?

Halloween Ghost Cruises

9/28/2009 12:04:00 AM 3 Responses
I went to Walmart today to pick up a new tv that I'd ordered (got a great deal on a 50" plasma) and as I walked towards the back of the store, I saw that halloween candy is already out on display. I guess technically we've only got a month left. How are you going to celebrate? I'm thinking about swinging by one of the Boston Ghost Cruises this year.

The Boston Ghost Cruises will return to Boston Harbor for several Halloween events October 24, 30 and 31. The demand from the summer was huge. Every cruise has been sold out since opening weekend. What better time of year to go out and see the sites and hear the tales. The frightfully exciting journeys offer terrifying encounters with Ghosts and Ghouls, dragging some of Boston’s oldest skeletons out of the closet.

The cruises are scheduled as follows:

Saturday, October 24 at 7 & 9 p.m.

Friday, October 30that 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, October 31st at 6:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Time to start brainstorming a costume for this year. Last time my friends and I dressed up as Street Fighter characters. This year I'd like to do something a little more zany.

Beat the Pro @ Felt - 9/30

9/28/2009 12:03:00 AM 1 Response
Back in my college days, I was pretty good at pool. It helped that there was a table in the basement of our fraternity house and there was a steady group of folks that were always looking for distractions from work. Sadly, as the years have gone by, I've gotten worse and worse. So this Wednesday's Beat the Pro event at Felt probably isn't for me.

The “Beat the Pro” promotion launches on Wednesday, September 23rd and is also scheduled for Wednesday, September 30th; Wednesday, October 7th; and Wednesday, October 14th. Pool Shark, Bob LeBlanc is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for complimentary lessons and challenges.

Reservations are not required but strongly encouraged. The event is scheduled on Felt’s second floor which features six pool tables, a plush lounge area, big-screen HDTV’s and a full bar. For those who work up a hunger in an attempt to “Beat the Pro”, Felt’s kitchen offers $3 appetizers, $3 entrées and $3 desserts in addition to the regular menu each Wednesday night.

My friend "Kegstand" used to be really awesome at pool, I wonder if he still keeps it up. Back in the day, I could finish a game pretty quickly, but he could run the table.

1000 Words: The Cruises

9/24/2009 12:47:00 AM 4 Responses
Perez Hilton's site has had more Boston-centric posts than I've ever seen thanks to Tom Cruise and family. With all the movies that have been filming here in the last two years, I've never seen this much press.

Here's a couple of pics from Perez's site, one from a family dinner and one from a run that Tom and Katie went on through the city.

I can't tell for sure, but is that first pic of Boylston Street? I can't make out the lettering on the restaurant in the background, but I've read that Tom has a tendency to eat at Abe & Louie's. Also on the 2nd pic, you can see the Mandarin Oriental in the background. So it would make sense that if he's staying there that he'd eat nearby.

Zee Portal - Fashion News

9/24/2009 12:26:00 AM 1 Response
I did a lot of private label in the past for work, so the manufacturing industry has always been interesting to me. One of the most interesting manufacturing industries (in my opinion) is the clothing industry. Thanks to a new fashion industry website that just recently launched, I'll hopefully be able to keep up on the industry news better.

The fashion industry welcomed a groundbreaking new force today with the launch of Zeeportal.com, the 24/7 virtual trade show for fashion professionals.

With Zeeportal.com, fashion industry professionals can make connections, get the latest news and conduct business 24/7 in a fun, free virtual environment that’s tailor-made for our industry.”

Features of the site include searchable member profiles and designer catalogs, fashion news, expert advice, industry events, online chats, exchange rates, stock quotes, classified ads and online order taking. For added security, designers can choose which buyers can access their profiles and catalogs.

I come from the electronics world, where margins kind of suck. So it's always fascinating to see people who are willing to pay $150+ for track suits made out of bath towels. What makes it so expensive? The profit. (Just a little joke my boss used to make)

Buffalo Exchange Coming Soon - 10/3

9/24/2009 12:08:00 AM 2 Responses
We've got a fair number of second hand clothing stores in town don't we? Second Time Around, the Garment District, etc. Well, there's always room room for one more - Buffalo Exchange is coming in about two weeks to Davis Sq. You can bet that Tufts students will be all over that place.

Buffalo Exchange brings the original concept of buy-sell-trade clothing to Boston with the opening of its first New England store, located in Davis Square at 238 Elm Street, Somerville, MA 02144, phone 617-629-5382, on October 3, 2009. The shop is convenient to the Red line's Davis Square stop and the Grove Street parking lots. Store hours will be Monday-Saturday 11-7 and Sunday 12-5.

The new store's sales floor is 2,780 square feet and the space was secured by Buffalo Exchange on August 1. There are roomy, well-lit dressing rooms -- nine women's and four men's -- plus two buy counters, where customers can sell their clothes for cash or trade. The store will open with inventory from Buffalo Exchange stores in New York City, Southern California, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Austin.

Plaid seems to be in this season. Or maybe I'm wrong, I have the fashion sense of a rock. But perhaps I'll swing by Davis Sq in early October to look for some vintage plaid at the new store. Also gives me an excuse to swing by Chipotle while I'm out there. Yum.

I hope you guys had a chance to swing by the Colonnade's rooftop pool during the summer (here), because now you'll have to wait until next year. They had a pretty sweet end of summer bash on Saturday:

Recent American Idol winner, Kris Allen and English singer-songwriter David Gray were the guest performers at Saturday’s end of summer bash at Boston’s The Colonnade Hotel’s Roof Top Pool (RTP), performing 12 stories above the city streets for a crowd of 175 fans. Kris crooned his interpretation of “Man in the Mirror”, “Falling Slowly” and “Heartless”, while David sang, “Babylon”, “JackDaw”, “Draw the Line”, “Fugitive”, “Nemesis” and “This Years Love” (which he sang for a couple who recently were married and had this as their wedding song).

Fri sep 18 - 24

Lansdown & ipswich

Fri sep 18 - 27 5am 9pm
Yawkey from brookline to boylston

Fri sep 18 - 24 5am 9pm
Van ness closed from yawkey to ipswich

I received news previously that there's going to be all sorts of action near the Fenway area for a few scene shoots: explosions and gunfire and what not. Could be exciting. If anyone decides to swing by and investigate, send me some pics and I'll get them up.

Hotel Chocolat Coming Soon!

9/21/2009 12:03:00 AM 2 Responses
I don't eat a whole lot of chocolate. But when I have friends come to visit that do like chocolate, I always take them to Teuscher on Newbury for their champagne truffles. Those things are delicious. Coming soon, though, is some competition that I may need to check out.

Hotel Chocolat might sound like Willy Wonka’s vacation resort of choice, but don’t jump to conclusions from the name. We’re not talking about some kind of Hershey’s hostel, but rather, a luxury chocolatier set to open right here in our own little Bean. In five years, the UK-based brand has ballooned to 32 retail locations across the pond.

It even grows its own cocoa at its Caribbean plantation, the Rabot Estate, where its policy of “Engaged Ethics” protects the local environment and workers. And now it has chosen the Hub for its first two stateside stores — one at 141A Newbury Street (near the Dartmouth Street intersection) opening in late September and a second opening later this year at the Mall at Chestnut Hill.

These stores will also debut a new look for the chain — a sleek black-and-white motif conceived by designer Terry Moore — and the Newbury location has a tasting room for chocolate sampling.

Anyone want to do me a favor and swing by 141A Newbury Street and check out if it's open yet?

Click (here) to check out the Hotel Chocolat website.

PS. I checked out the site, they've got champagne truffles as well.

Big Papi Now Serving Lunch

9/17/2009 12:15:00 AM 0 Responses
It's only been a little over a month and Big Papi (here) is already kicking ass and taking names. In this particular instance, I happen to be referring to the new restaurant that opened in July.

Plantain encrusted Fish and Chips, the Chimichurri burger and many more of David Ortiz’s favorite dishes can now be found at lunchtime in Framingham at Big Papi’s Grille. Due to popular demand, Big Papi’s Grille, the upscale casual restaurant co-owned by Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, will now be serving lunch daily starting at 11:30am. The restaurant, which opened to accolades in July 2009, has consistently been filled to capacity.

The restaurant’s lunch menu reflects the quality and variety that patrons of Big Papi’s Grille have recently come to expect, including high quality, “natural” steaks, entrée salads, hearty pasta dishes, and Kobe beef burgers. Big Papi’s zesty “En Fuego” hot sauces – from mild to hot -- are available to spice up any of the entrees and can also be purchased at the restaurant.

I usually take clients to lunch at the Legal Seafood over there on Rt 9 when I'm in Framingham, but I'm thinking that it may be time to mix it up a little bit and swing by Big Papi's.

D3B Fundraiser - 9/26

9/17/2009 12:05:00 AM 0 Responses
There's this show that I like to watch on the Food Network called Dinner Impossible. Basically, the chef is given a bunch of constraints, food-wise and time-wise and he has to meet an 'impossible' deadline. It's pretty fun to watch him speed-cooking. That's what popped into mind when I was reading about the upcoming Duplessy Foundation’s annual D3B Fundraiser on 9/26.

The Duplessy Foundation’s annual D3B fundraiser event will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 7-10pm at Venu (100 Warrenton St, Boston, MA 02116).

We provide mentoring and fellowships to 18-24 year olds who are not in college. We will be celebrating our first cohort of participants in the program so it will be a momentous event.

Highlights will include the D3B Chef Challenge, where chefs turn a $60 bag of groceries into 100 unique pieces of hors d’oeuvres; a visual art gallery show, unique fashion, live auction, great local comedians, and much more.

At this year’s event we will be honoring Designer Sara Campbell, Chef Lydia Shire, Artists for Humanity Executive Director Susan Rodgerson, and Corey Manning with Pursuit of Purpose Award for outstanding contribution to the arts.

Have I professed my love on this blog for Lydia Shire's restaurants? I probably have. If I haven't yet, here goes. I love Lydia Shire's restaurants: Scampo I think is my favorite. An evening of entertainment for a good cause. What more could you ask for?

Emma Watson at Brown

9/16/2009 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
I'm sure you guys have heard already, seeing as how the school year has already started, but Hermione is in fact attending Brown University. If you've been following my posts, first I heard that she was going to Brown (here). Then it was said that she was going to Columbia (here). Now there's confirmation from many folks that she's indeed going to Brown.

I know according to the papers I was "definitely attending" both Columbia and Yale, but I've finally arrived at Brown University and, while I wish that I could be in three places at once, I wouldn't believe everything you read. I arrived on Tuesday and I'm having the most amazing time. I'm still so excited to be here; I've already met so many incredible people. I'm over my jet lag and now I just want classes to start!! Hope you are all well and happy, and if you've started college or university that it is everything you hope it would be.

Love Emma x

Oh and contrary to the reports you may have read, I didn't arrive by helicopter. I've only been in one once when I was little and I was terrified. Now back to my studies! Speak soon.

That's from her official blog. I wonder if she'll stay in Providence on the weekends, or come up to Boston to party. Let's hope she makes her way up here.

Click (here) to visit Emma's website.

PS. Dear Emma Watson, welcome to the States! If you have questions about Brown or Providence, direct them here - my buddy Eugene spent 8 years there (undergrad & med school). I'm sure he can answer them.

Steppin’ Out w/ Brian McKnight - 11/7

9/16/2009 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
I'm getting flashbacks of highschool as I read the press release and type up this blog entry. It's somewhat horrifying. Brian McKnight's "Back at One" was crazy popular back when I was in high school.

The Dimock Center announced that the talented and soulful Brian McKnight will headline the 22nd edition of Steppin’ Out for The Dimock Center on Saturday, November 7th at The Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.

With 7 platinum albums to his credit and more than 20 millions albums sold worldwide, McKnight will add his smooth sound to what is already a terrific lineup of great artists scheduled to appear at Steppin’ Out this year.

“I am thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic event that brings together people from all walks of life and celebrates local musical talent, all for a great cause. Giving back to the community and those in need by performing is something I truly enjoy,” said McKnight.

Now all I have to do is find a girl to take to the show, and she'll be putty in my hands.

Click (here) to get tickets.

PS:

One, you're like a dream come true
Two, just wanna be with you
Three, girl, it's just plain to see
That you're the only one for me.......

Donnie Wahlberg Prefers BU Chicks

9/16/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
Thrillist had an interview with Donnie Wahlberg a few days ago, and in case you missed it, I thought I'd direct you towards a few of his more entertaining responses.

BU chicks or BC chicks?
BC chicks are more alluring, but BU chicks are the better time, so I'm going with BU chicks.

Sonsie upstairs or Sonsie downstairs?
Hmmm...that's a good question. I think i'm Sonsie downstairs. I've only been there once, it was sort of like the underbelly of Sonsie, it's kinda dark, I kinda liked it.

Who do you think drinks more, Wade Boggs, or Wally The Green Monster?

Wally the Green Monster.

If it's any consolation to the BC girls out there, I cast my vote for you ladies. I dated a BC girl briefly several years ago and she was awesome.

Meet Wolfgang Puck - 9/16

9/15/2009 12:03:00 AM 0 Responses
Wolfgang Puck is going to in town tomorrow for a Macy's event at their location in Downtown Crossing. I gotta say, I'm not a big fan of those Wolfgang Puck fast food places that they have at the airport, but I did have dinner at Spago the last time I was in Vegas and that was pretty fantastic.

Details for the event are in the flyer above. 9/16 at 1:30pm. Be there!

Fekkai Shampoo Swap - 9/17

9/15/2009 12:02:00 AM 1 Response
I am a creature of convenience. I used to use Molton Browne shampoo. It was quite nice (and also rather pricey). But then C.O. Bigelow in Copley stopped carrying it. Because I was too lazy to find another place that sold it (and too cheap to pay for shipping online), I ended up buying a huge bottle of Pantene from Costco. So 3 years from now, if I ever finish that bottle of Pantene, maybe I'll switch back. Or better yet, get a free bottle of Fekkai Shampoo on 9/17 and give that a try.

Date: Thursday, September 17, 2009
Time: 10:00am - 9:00pm
Location: Participating Saks Fifth Avenue Locations (US)

Receive a COMPLIMENTARY* bottle of Fekkai Advanced Shampoo. Exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue - Thursday September 17th, for one day only.

Visit Saks Fifth Avenue for its first ever Shampoo Swap. Bring any full sized shampoo you currently use** and exchange it for one full sized complimentary bottle of Fekkai Advanced shampoo of your choice ($23 value).

More details coming soon.

*One per customer, please.

While supplies last. In-store only.

**Shampoo bottle can be full or empty

Rosario Dawson Spotted at Bin 26

9/15/2009 12:02:00 AM 3 Responses
Bloggery Reader Carrah had the following to say:

Sat across the bar from Rosaria Dawson dining with a gal pal at Bin 26 in Beacon Hill on Saturday night. What's she doing in town? Owner asked her to bring her boyfriend in next time - any idea who she is dating? No clue.

Ms. Dawson is in town filming The Zookeeper with Kevin James, Donnie Wahlberg, and a host of other folks that are doing the voices for the animals (here). Here's the IMDB synopsis

The animals at one particular zoo decide to break their code of silence in order to help their lovable zookeeper gain the attention of one particular woman.

Basically, the talking animals are trying to help Kevin James get with Rosario Dawson ... I think.

Click (here) for a link to IMDB.

PS. I have no idea who she's dating in real life.

Banq Transforms into Ginger Park

9/14/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
Wow, well I'm glad I made it into Banq when I had the chance (here). According to the Globe, it's currently undergoing a transformation into a new Asian-themed restaurant named Ginger Park.

Banq, the South End restaurant outfitted with ribs of blond wood and a menu influenced by India and Asia, is morphing. It is slated to reopen as Ginger Park at the end of the month. The new chef will be Patricia Yeo, who moved to Boston from New York for the project. Yeo was previously at Monkey Bar, Sapa, Pazo, and AZ, among others.

The food will be "modern Asian," according to Chris Haynes of PR firm CBH Communications. Prices will top out around the $20 mark, and the owners aim to make it a lively, casual, and affordable neighborhood place. The menu is still in the works, but there will be shared plates and a strong Chinese influence. Ginger Park won't serve sushi, and sadly it will not be the noodle bar Boston still lacks.

That last sentence is a little bit of a slap in the face to Myers + Chang, considering they just appeared on Bon Appetit's list of top 10 new noodle bars (here).

SoCo Undercover - 9/17

9/14/2009 12:02:00 AM 0 Responses
I don't drink a lot of mixed shots. When I'm buying, it's usually Patron or some kind of Bourbon (Wild Turkey, anyone?) But occasionally, someone will sneak in a round of SoCo Limes. Not a bad shot. I hafta say I prefer it over Jager shots - not to be confused with Jager bombs which are awesome. Well, Southern Comfort is coming this week on 9/17 and so it's time to RSVP.

Brought to you by the spirit so surprisingly versatile you can use it to craft a margarita, martini, or Manhattan, underCOVER is a 10-city concert series starring either "choral symphonic rock" act The Polyphonic Spree, two-man power-disco wrecking crew Ghostland Observatory, or Springsteen-punk poets The Hold Steady, plus Flavor Flav-championed opener DJ Lord of Public Enemy, whose scratching is so thunderous, you will think he rolled around in poison oak.

For the Boston event, the Polyphonic Spree will be headlining and the event will be held at the Paradise Rock Club.

Click (here) to RSVP via Facebook.

NE Dessert Showcase Preshow

9/11/2009 01:32:00 AM 0 Responses
Tickets are FLYING for the New England Dessert Showcase coming up later this month. That was evident from the sheer number of folks that entered my latest giveaway contest (here). I wish I could have given you all tickets, but as a consolation perhaps you'll settle for discounted tickets to the NE Dessert Showcase Preshow.

The folks over at BuyWithMe want to hook you up:

For $15, you’ll get exclusive access to BuyWithMe’s Pre-Showcase Tasting. From 9:30-11:00 am, before anyone else is allowed in, BuyWithMe users that purchase this offer will have the entire venue to themselves. Be the first to taste all of the delicious dessert creations right as they’re coming out of the oven; unless of course it’s the ice cream you’re after.

I know what you're thinking, "9:30am is a little early for dessert isn't it?" The answer is no. It's never too early for dessert. If I had access to an unlimited supply of bread pudding, I'd eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That is until I came down with a nasty case of diabetes.

You get to try most of the desserts (except the ice cream) and beat the crowds, sounds good to me.

Click (here) to get your Preshow tickets.

Contest: 2 Free Hours of Concierge Service

9/11/2009 01:19:00 AM 0 Responses
Lisa over at Lisa's Hands of Time is such an awesome person that she's sponsoring another giveaway for her company's services. She already sponsored a contest back in May (here) but she's coming back for more! Just in time for all you students that may not have as much free time anymore now that school has started up again.

Shopportunity Knocks!

Well - it's definitely September...Are you back in Boston? Back to college? Have your kids gone back to school? Are you working late and never seem have enough time in your day?

Here's your chance! Haven't you always wanted your very own personal concierge? We are giving away 2 free hours of Lisa's Hands of Time Concierge services (www.LisasHandsOfTimeConcierge.com).

This time-saving personal concierge biz will help you buy back your time, and give you peace of mind. Errands, shopping, organizing, research, wait-services, automobile-related errands, and much MORE! http://www.lisashandsoftimeconcierge.com/services/services.html

That's right, we're giving away 2 hours of free concierge service. This would have come in handy for me about 2 weeks ago. I moved into a new place and had a ridiculous amount of ikea furniture to built. Due to the lack of an electric screw driver, I think I now have carpal tunnel.

Same rules as usual. Shoot me an email with subject heading "Lisa's Hands of Time" and your name in the body of the email and I'll enter you in the drawing.

Contest runs from now until next Friday 9/18 at 10pm EST.

Vietnamese 7 Course Beef

9/10/2009 12:23:00 AM 2 Responses
A couple months back, I went to have 7 Course Beef at a Vietnamese restaurant in Dorchester (I wanted the most authentic experience I could). The name is starting to escape me, but I believe it was Pho 2000. It was DELICIOUS! I recommend all of you try it at least once.

Here are a few pics of my favorite of the 7 courses. Beef with butter.

I want some more ... right now. That was so good. There's really not much you could do to make that dish better. Some would say "add bacon to it" but I don't eat pork. And it's delicious enough as is. Ok, maybe an angioplasty afterward might make it better.
