I've been to NYC more times than I can remember, but this past weekend was by far the most awesome of all my trips. Great food, celebrity sightings and overall chillin.
Food:
Omakase @ Sasabune - chef's choice sushi tasting menu. Definitely one of the best sushi meals I've ever had.
Burgers & Steak @ Peter Luger - this place is renowned for their steak. But I was also told that their burgers (only served at lunch) are really great too. Soooo, we had both. Each of us had a burger and we shared a porterhouse on top of that.
Black Label Burger @ Minetta Tavern - this may have been the best burger I've ever eaten EVER.
Chocolate Cookie & Ice Cream @ Bouchon Bakery - I was told that this year Per Se actually surpassed French Laundry. I didn't have the chance to eat at Per Se, but we did stop by Bouchon Bakery for a snack. The cookie was warm and melty and the vanilla bean ice cream it came with was phenomenal.
Brazilian Food @ Esperanto - Had dinner at this really cute restaurant in the East Village. Live music, passion fruit caipirinhas, and amazing Brazilian food.
Celebrity Sightings:
Alton Brown @ Sasabune - Alton Brown is my favorite chef on the food network. I love the whole explaining the science of cooking thing that he does. He was there having dinner with a friend and we were the only other group in the restaurant.
Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, and Bill Hader @ Minetta Tavern - the three of them were in a group of about 15 people having dinner. If you haven't read the reviews, Minetta Tavern is apparently one of the hippest places in town. I had to try real hard to prevent myself from giggling like a schoolgirl when I saw them.
I'll post some pics of the food tomorrow.
PS. I rode Bolt Bus to and from NYC. It's my preferred means of transport. Although I would like to try the double decker megabus sometime.
