If you haven't swung by the Volvo Ocean Race yet (here), you need to go there and then on your way back from the Seaport District, swing by the Hotel Intercontinental for some drinks. I had the distinct pleasure of going to the Onne van der Wal exhibit opening this weekend at the Intercontinental and I have to admit those are some really wonderful photos.

InterContinental Boston has teamed up with renown sailing photographer Onne van der Wal, from Newport, RI and Boston’s Lannan Ship Model Gallery to present a nautical exhibit consisting of large scale racing and tall ship photography by van der Wal, along with an array of antique racing and sailing model ships and a selection of antique nautical decorative items from around the world from Lannan’s. InterContinental Boston is also offering the “Cruise & Snooze” sailing package to celebrate this nautical summer and has teamed up with Pier’s Park Sailing Center offering guests the opportunity to learn to sail or just sit aboard and enjoy Boston Harbor.

I actually went to the exhibit opening early Saturday evening, left to watch game 7 of the Celtics-Bulls playoffs, and then went BACK to the Intercontinental afterwards with my friends to grab drinks. That's how much I like that place.

Oh and if you're curious, in that last pic we've got a veritable Who's Who of the evening. From left to right, we've got the artist Onne van der Wal, one of the sailors from the Erickson boat from the Volvo Ocean Race, Kennedy from Mix 98.5, the GM of the Intercontinental, and Karson from Mix 98.5.

PS. I'm not sure how serious Karson was, but he did suggest that maybe they should 'interview' me one day on their morning show. How cool would that be?
