I was wondering what happened to News when it closed down a couple months ago. Well it looks like Frank De Pasquale (who owns quite a bit of stuff in the North End) is reopening the space as a lounge called "Splash."

According to the Improper Bostonian, Splash Lounge will open on Memorial Day and it will be a "Las Vegas inspired lounge" whatever that means. Here's a few things that the lounge is going to include: indoor pool tables and a "fancy rooftop deck with cabanas, beds, and a fountain."

Beds? We're not Miami. Those 'rooftop beds' are going to be really gross in about a month and a half after opening. But then again, I'm sure it's gimmicky enough to draw a crowd, the same way the mechanical bull does at Liquor Store.
