Wallpaper Magazine, which I believe is an artsy design type of magazine, has chosen Banq as the world's best new restaurant as part of their 2009 Design Awards.

Designed by Office dA, in Boston’s former Penny Savings Bank, Banq sets the senses swirling with its banyan tree-inspired aesthetic. Curved layers of birch form an abstract wooden canopy above recycled bamboo tables where chef Ranveer Brar offers up a menu spanning India, Vietnam, Thailand and France. Also try the weekend brunch.

I haven't had a chance to eat there yet, but my friend dwillens did. He said the food was pretty good. Now that they've won a design award though, I really want to check it out and see what it's like there. Field trip anyone?

their dinner is pretty good but i think the ambiance is very much a "to be seen" thing. The middle section has no privacy. Their brunch has really bad service. worth checking out for the decor, but don't have too high expectations.

Awesome, I should really try it out. Also, they're having a recession deal http://www.beantownbloggery.com/2009/01/recession-restaurant-deals-complete.html

The food leaves a lot to be desired and the attitude of the staff is even worse. I found it unsanitary when my waiter touched my food. I found the decor cold and uncomfortable. In this economy, I think my money is better spent at the other restaurants in walking distance from BanQ
