A question for all the single people in Boston. How would you rate Boston as a city for being single? Pretty good? Not so good? I don't have too many data points other than the fact that I have several friends who were single their entire time here in Boston and then right after they left, they met someone in their new cities. Maybe that's why we're 7th this year in Forbes' "Best Cities for Singles."

Here's the overall top 10 cities:

1. Atlanta
2. San Francisco
3. Dallas
4. Minneapolis
5. Washington D.C.
6. Seattle
7. Boston
8. New York City
9. Orlando
10. Phoenix

At least we beat NYC. =)

4 Response to "Forbes Best Cities for Singles 2008 - Boston is 7th"

  1. Unknown Said,

Umm... I would actually disagree with Boston being on this list...

Of course, I am married and have no idea what it is like to date in Boston. I only have my friends' opinions to go on... But it seems like Boston is not an easy place to date if you are in your late 20s and 30s.

Perhaps if you are in college or just out of school?

I agree with the missus in that it's great for college singles but once you are past the age of 25 it's not so great.

  3. Maggie Moo Said,

As someone who's lived here for less than a year, I'd have to say that no, it's not an easy city to date in...maybe it's because I'm not into the whole bar scene, but I do happen to go out a lot and still don't seem to find men who are interesting enough or who are interested in me.

I'm with the missus-I think it's easier if you are in your 20's...

  4. Anonymous Said,

I agree that if you are under 30, Boston is a great place for dating. Over 30, it becomes MUCH more difficult.
