More Edge of Darkness Info

More info from Bloggery Reader "On The Edge"

Forgot to mention they said Deniro had just signed on the previous day. I guess its old news now. One more interesting thing they noted was that it would be filming from August to at least December and the schedule was irregular. They also pointed out that all extras were to develop a character and that no one would be allowed to wear any bright colored clothing. The whole movie will be dark and gritty. There are also rumors swirling that there will be a staged protest in front of the State House just in time for the real elections. Sounds truly awesome. I hope I get selected for any role.

And then this from our friends at the Boston Globe:

Over 1,000 people turned out this weekend for a chance to appear in a new movie starring Mel Gibson. The wannabe film stars flocked to the Braintree Street offices of Boston Casting, hoping to land a role in "Edge of Darkness," which begins shooting here later this month. Boston Casting founder Angela Peri (left, center) said it's not bad being an extra. "What a way to spend a day - $112, free lunch, and hanging with Mel Gibson," she said. "What could be better than that?" The film, written by "Departed" scribe William Monahan, is about a strait-laced BPD detective, played by Gibson, whose 24-year-old daughter is murdered on the steps of his home. Robert De Niro is set to costar.

Based on "On The Edge's" previous comment (here) if they want 3000 extras and only 1000 showed up, maybe there will be another casting call. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything.
