Sadly, I don't think I'll be in town the weekend that he's in Boston. This isn't Mr. Ma's first time in Boston, I think he comes through every couple of years to perform at Symphony Hall. It just always seems to be bad timing for me.
For those of you that are available on Sunday 5/18 - I'd highly recommend going to this concert to hear him play. I've got several of his CDs (the one where he plays the music of Ennio Morricone is my favorite) and they're all wonderful. Try listening to them on your 5.1 surround sound system or a pair of those Bose Quietcomfort headphones - it's pretty awe-inspiring.
According to the BSO website, the 5/18 event is the 50th Anniversary Gala of the BYSO (Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra) and they're going to be playing Dvorak.

Hi Philip and Anonymous
Thanks for the note. I had no clue he lived here! That's really cool. I just wikipedia'ed him and sure enough he lives in Cambridge.
