Jhumpa Lahiri Book Reading - 4/3

4/01/2008 11:08:00 AM
I'm going to start off by saying that Interpreter of Maladies is one of my all time favorite books, second only to my favorite (The Count of Monte Cristo). It's always neat to read a book and be familiar with the setting (Many of the short stories are set in Boston/Cambridge).

That being said, I was really excited to learn that Ms. Lahiri will be here on Thursday 4/3 to do a reading from her new book (another book of short stories) entitled Unaccustomed Earth at the Coolidge Corner Theater.

I really need to stop watching TV, so I can finish my backlog of books and get this one as well. I also need to finish reading the Namesake. I read half of it, and then left it on a plane. And now I can't bring myself to buy it again (shame on me for spending $ on it and then losing it). I should just walk over to the library and see if I can borrow it.

DAGH. I just checked the Coolidge Corner Theater website and the event is sold out. But it does say that: There will be a standby line, and all are welcome to the free book-signing following the reading.

Click (here) for the details. The reading starts at 6pm. It's just as well, I'll be heading over to the Jay-Z & Mary J Blige concert that evening anyway. Yes, I'm a man of many tastes.
