Christmas Celtic Sojourn Snow Passes

12/17/2007 03:19:00 PM
How has the weather been impacting you? Last Thursday, my flight to Chicago was canceled due to the snowstorm and then yesterday I had the bright idea to walk to the Border's Bookstore in Downtown Crossing to buy a book. Between the rain and the huge puddles on the streets, I nearly drowned.

In the Globe today there were a few little blurbs on how lots of concerts and shows were cancelled or postponed due to performers not being able to make it to their venues. Amongst the affected shows was the Christmas Celtic Sojourn show that I blogged about earlier (here).

As a result, they're adding a show this week and giving Snow Passes to those that missed the show on last Thursday and yesterday due to weather.

An extra show of A Christmas Celtic Sojourn with Brian O’Donovan has been added for this Thursday night (12/20) to accommodate theatergoers that couldn’t make the show yesterday and last Thursday because of the storms. Patrons with unused tickets who wish to receive snow passes for the added performance can call the Cutler Majestic Theatre Box office at 617-824-8000 or visit the theatre box office during regular hours (10am-6pm.)

I wish everyone was this considerate. Last year, I had tickets to see the Pussycat Dolls when they performed with the Black Eyed Peas. PCD didn't show - I was pissed. And then more recently the Decemberists canceled their concert tour. Who knows when they'll be back.

Well, Boston is going to be the lucky recipient of this generosity, but it means taking it away from New Yorkers (including this Brooklynite!) I was very disappointed to discover just now that the New York performance that I have been looking forward to for months is now cancelled! I'm sorry to hear that so many were disappointed in Boston because of the weather, but I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself right now, too. I do hope we'll get another chance at this some time. :-(

I was also disappointed to find out tonight after I showed up that the show was canceled. I hope no one traveling to New York for the holidays bought tickets expecting to see this show. They should have been more considerate informing people about the cancellation. I guess it won't be too easy for them to reschedule a show in New York after cancelling without notice.

Well, I'm happy for Boston that people were able to see the show they bought tickets for. It was nice of them to reschedule for those affected by the weather. In NYC the same consideration was not given. People weren't even notified until they showed up to see the show last night that it was canceled. And to find out that the real reason was so the show could be performed in Boston that night. I guess it was too much of an imposition to reschedule in Boston after the NYC show. Thanks for the lack of regard - NY
